Vinicius Jr has thanked Casemiro for his support after the Manchester United midfielder called on La Liga to take a zero-tolerance approach to racism.
Vinicius Jr, 22, was once again subjected to vile racist abuse during a La Liga match on Sunday.
Real Madrid’s match against Valencia was paused after the half-time break when the Brazilian pointed out to the referee home supporters who were abusing him.
Vinicius Jr was later sent off for violent conduct in second-half added time of his side’s 1-0 defeat following an altercation with Valencia striker Hugo Duro.
Vinicius Jr was taunted by Valencia supporters while leaving the field and the Brazilian later claimed he was subjected to racist abuse.
“It was not the first time, nor the second, nor the third. Racism is normal in La Liga. The competition considers it normal, the federation considers it normal and the rivals encourage it,” Vinicius posted on Twitter after the game.
“The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi today belongs to the racists
“A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love, but which accepted to export to the world the image of a racist country.
“I am sorry for those Spaniards who disagree but today, in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists. I am strong and I will go all the way against the racists. Even if it is far away from here.”
Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, received criticism for his response to Vinicius Jr in which he appeared to deflect some of the blame back at the Real Madrid forward.
“Since there are those who should but don’t explain to you what LaLiga is and what it can do in cases of racism, we have tried to explain it to you, but you have not shown up for either of the two agreed meetings that you yourself requested,” Tebas wrote on social media.”Before you criticise and slander La Liga, you need to inform yourself properly.
“Don’t let yourself be manipulated and make sure you understand each party’s responsibilities and the work we have been doing together.”
Casemiro gives his support to Vinicius Jr
Vinicius Jr’s international teammate, Casemiro, has now called on Tebas and La Liga to take a zero-tolerance approach to racism in Spanish football.
“La Liga must take exemplary measures urgently, because these repeated incidents of racism stain the image not only of Spanish football, but also of all world football,” Casemiro posted on Instagram.
“And the feeling should be unanimous: zero tolerance!!!!”
Vinicius Jr responded to Casemiro: “Thank you, Case!”, followed by the love-heart and prayer emojis.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation and The Technical Committee of Referees have reportedly fired six VAR referees following the alleged racist abuse of Vinicius Jr.
Vinicius was at the centre of Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Sunday for all the wrong reasons.
The Brazilian winger initially got in a heated confrontation with Valencia supporters, who were allegedly racially abusing Vinicius from the stands.
The 22-year-old was then shown a red card for slapping Hugo Duro after being being manhandled by the Valencia player, sparking ironic jeers from the home fans.
Taking to social media after the game, Vinicius posted a powerful statement condemning the actions of those supporters, and the lack of action from La Liga.
But now it seems they have taken note, firing six La Liga officials, including Iglesias Villanueva, who was responsible for VAR during Real Madrid’s defeat to Valencia, according to Marca.
Explaining the decision to sack the officials, the report claimed that the images given to the on-field referee De Burgos Bengoechea which led to Vinicus’ red card were not complete.
“They cannot find the reason why the sequence sent only referred to the Brazilian’s blow to Hugo Duro’s face and not to the rest of the play,” it was stated.
While Real Madrid have also released a statement regarding Sunday’s events, which read: “Real Madrid C. F. strongly condemns the events that took place yesterday against our player Vinícius Junior.
“These events represent a direct attack on the social and democratic model of coexistence of our State based on the rule of law.
“Real Madrid believes that such attacks also constitute a hate crime, and has therefore filed the corresponding report with the Attorney General’s Office, specifically with the Prosecutor’s Office against crimes of hatred and discrimination, in order for the facts to be investigated and for those responsible to be held accountable.
“Article 124 of the Spanish Constitution stipulates that the role of the Public Prosecutor’s Office is to promote the pursuit of justice in defense of legality and the rights of citizens and the public interest.
“Given the seriousness of the events that took place, Real Madrid has appealed to the Attorney General’s Office, without prejudice to its standing as a private prosecutor in any proceedings that may be initiated.”
Los Blancos’ boss Carlo Ancelotti also took aim at La Liga, condemning the supporters in question.
“I’m calm, but what happened today shouldn’t happen,” he said after the game.
“For a stadium to shout ‘monkey’ at a player and for a coach to think about taking him off for that… There’s something wrong with this league.
“It has to be stopped. And I would say the same if we won 3-0.”

There were crazy scenes during Valencia’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid as Vinicius Jr was knocked over by a second ball on the pitch.
Valencia defender Eray Comert was the guilty party, and appeared to deliberately cannon a second ball directly into the one at Vinicius’ feet, sparking outrage among supporters.
With Vinicius and his teammates visibly incensed, Comert was shown a yellow card by the referee due to the contact taking place just outside the six-yard box.
However, there was no time for the free-kick to be taken due to suspected racist abuse from the crowd in the direction of Vinicius. The Real Madrid winger was quick to point towards the perpetrators, with the game suspended for well over five minutes as the chaos ensued.
The crowd inside the Mestalla Stadium were then warned that the match would be called off if their behaviour did not change.
The game did continue, but Vinicius was later given a red card in stoppage time for slapping Hugo Duro after being being manhandled by the Valencia player.
The referee had little choice but to show the 22-year-old his marching orders, leading to ironic jeers around the stadium.
Unfortunately, it’s not the first time Vinicius has been the subject of abuse from rival fans, with the Brazilian targeted by Atletico Madrid hooligans ahead of their meeting back in January.
The defeat leaves Los Blancos’ in third place, one point behind local rivals Atletico Madrid with three games to play.
While Carlo Ancelotti will still bear the scars of their 4-0 Champions League second-leg defeat to Manchester City last week, as Real’s hopes of a 15th Champions league title slipped away.
Whereas Valencia climbed up to 15th in the table, some five points above the relegation zone, as Ruben Baraja’s side edge towards safety.
