Manchester United start talks for Brazilian star – Red Devils are the ‘most advanced’ in race for huge signing

Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain have opened talks for the transfer of Neymar, the French media reports.

L’Equipe writes on Monday evening that as the Brazilian star edges towards an exit from the Ligue 1 side, it’s the Red Devils who are the ‘most advanced’ for his signing.

PSG are open to discuss the possibility of the 31-year-old’s departure, and despite his resistance to leaving last year, he’s now also open to the idea.

It’s said Manchester United tend to be ‘ambitious’ for the next season, especially with their place in the Champions League, and there are many ‘actors’ working on the transfer.

Casemiro is said to be one of them, as he’s reportedly trying to convince Neymar to join him at Old Trafford.
L’Equipe, however, make it clear that ‘nothing is done’, and actually ‘far from it’. The two main aspects are obviously financial, with both the transfer fee and his salary yet to be discussed.

Even though Manchester United could afford his huge salary, it’s said it’s hard to ‘imagine’ the Red Devils affording a big transfer fee as well. That’s why the outlet says the solution could be a loan with the Premier League side covering his entire salary. Even though PSG prefer a sale, they could end up accepting that formula.

L’Equipe still highlight that despite them saying the club are leading the race, Manchester United are not alone, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also interested.

This is likely to be the work of PSG advisor Luis Campos, who has been tasked with finding a new home for Neymar. It would be no surprise if it’s a case of PSG trying to drum up interest at Old Trafford, whilst informing the French media that there’s desire from the Red Devils.
